Christmas Time is Coming

The winner of "Overlapping Stars" pattern was Kathy from Arizona.  And the Winner of "Desert Rose" was Denise from  Utah. Thanks everyone who joined in on the fun of entering the giveaways.

Melissa, Rebecca and I spent some time making Christmas candy and cookies.

The young adults had there Christmas supper at our house.
 

They played two games for entertainment.  One was called "salad bowl".  Everyone wrote several things down on pieces of paper.  Then there were three rounds.  On the first round, the person had to describe it.  On the second round, the person had to describe it, using only two words, and on the third round, the person had to act it out.  

They also had a Rock-Paper-Scissors tournament.

First they drew names.



 Then they lined up the tournament brackets.

Then the excitement started. 

 This was the last round and Rick was the winner.

I baked 10 pies for a fundraiser for Pedro Sandoval. Don't get to impressed, all I had to do is pour the filling in the pies, lay a crust on top and bake.

Class at Patchwork Plus and Family

Dazzling Daisies class at Patchwork Plus.  Terri has a three fabric color-way.  Some like to chat instead of sew.:)

 

Marie has 19 different fabrics in her quilt.  This is the second class of a three week series.

Thanksgiving Day at the Cline's.  It was very special having my mother and mother-in-law there.  Some of the guys went hunting and missed out on the turkey.

New Pattern Giveaway

"Sew Mama Sew"

Life and Quilting

This is what happens when you turn your camera loose to children on the van.

 What a treat to be with my two sisters and brother-in-law. 
Mother fixed our lunch.

 Mother, my sister June, and I spent an evening listening to a gentlemen play tones on glass goblets.  He would play six at one time and have such harmony.

"Overlapping Star" another new pattern.  Features in table runner are stacking layers and cutting them out, working with strips.  This is just triangles sewed together in rows and then the rows sewed together.

Apple Butter Boiling at Mom and Dads

The day before we make apple butter, the men peel the apples....

...the ladies cut them up.

Mom washes the apples bright and early in the morning.

Dad builds the fire and keeps it burning all day.

All day long we socialize and enjoy each other's company.

American Cancer Society Fund Raiser

Several ladies from the community came together and sewed for a day.  We each paid for our table which supported the American Cancer Society.

I sat beside Diane.  She was machine quilting her first quilt.  This was the first time I met Diane.  I really enjoyed sewing beside her for the day.

My friend Charlotte joined me for the day.  We had so much fun.

Isn't this impressive for a college quilt?

I worked on a "Disappearing 9 Patch" quilt for Hospice. The Shenandoah Valley Quilt Guild is giving quilts and dolls to children who are in Hospice. The quilt guild gives out the dolls, then volunteers make quilts to go with the the dolls.

I also made a miniature quilt that matched the child's quilt for the doll.

Virginia Mennonite Relief Sale

This past weekend was the Virginia Mennonite Relief Sale. Each year, hundreds of volunteers, and thousands of visitors come together to raise money at Relief Sales for Mennonite Central Committee.  MCC works at home and with people around the world to ease oppression, poverty, and conflict. They lead natural disaster relief efforts, community development and peace work in more than 50 countries. Notice the Grandmothers clock in the background.  Terry's Dad made it.

Doughnut making, homemade potato chips, soups, apple butter boiling, a big breakfast, and grinding corn are all different ways the relief sale makes money. 

  These are some of my Fathers pants. What shall I do with them?  I will  make a comforter.
