New Star Quilt

 QUILTINGAL AS A QUILTER
A new quilt is in  the making. Step back from your computer and look at this quilt from a distance.

Notice that this block is the same block as ...

this quilt.

QUILTINGAL'S LIFE
Ray and Rose Mary Martin donated a "chuck wagon supper" for a fund raiser last Christmas.  Terry (hubby) purchased two tickets and last week we went to our chuck wagon supper. Let me give you the setting for the evening, 5 covered wagons circled our eating area,

steaks grilling over an open fire, a chuck wagon with the food supplies (in background),
Rose Mary and Ray grilling steaks.
eating out side with tin plates, top notch food and to add to all that great fellowship.  The atmosphere was just amazing.  Then after supper we sat around the camp fire and listened to embarrassing moment, hunting experiences and skid loader rides.  We laughed so hard.

C&T Publishing is giving away my book. Go to their blog and try to win my book "Diamond Chain Quilts". You have till Oct. 10th to try your chances of winning the book.

Quiltmaker Magazine

This is what I got in the mail today.

 Look what is inside.

Here is the original design I made.  I did a fussy
cut in the middle of the center of the star. Quiltmaker
made it into the color way they chose.

My sister Polly teaching Mother how to make a
"Grandmothers Flower Garden" quilt.

Dona (a friend from Roanoke), Polly and I were privileged to a take a class with Jenny Doan from the Missour Star Quilt Company.

 Autumn's dilemma.
"Wow, this is massive."

She decided to turn her one quilt into two quilts.  The floor is my  design wall and it is filled up with my daughter's quilt.

I had a book signing at the Virginia Quilt Museum.

This quilt is a sampler quilt Linda Tice, a good friend and coworker,  pieced this quilt in a Saturday Sampler class at Patchwork Plus and the Dayton Mennonite Sewing Circle quilted it.  It will be sold at the Mennonite Relief Sale.

I am donating Star Chain table runner which will also be sold at the Mennonite Relief Sale. Sorry about the blurry picture.  It is hanging up at Sew Classic Fabrics in the Shenandoah Heritage Famers Market until the relief sale.

American Patchwork & Quilting Podcast

Come join in on the fun at American Patchwork & Quilting.  I wanted  to let you know that next Monday, September 16, I will be a guest on the American Patchwork & Quilting radio show with Pat Sloan. I am thrilled that Pat asked me to be on the show. The show will air live at 4pm eastern but the podcast will be available after that on the website. If you have not listened to the show before come over and check out all you have been missing. There are many past shows on the site- the perfect thing to listen to while you stitch. You can get to the page HERE

Here is the finished "Russian Quilt" I was in the
process of making in my last post.

I placed the stars on different color backgrounds
to see which background I liked
the best and the red background won.

My three girls doing what they like to do.
Parla decorating a cake for her sister-in laws wedding.

She made three different cakes.  It was an outdoor
wedding and the cakes fit the occasion so well.

Rebecca making a breakfast skillet in her new dutch oven.

Autumn making a quilt she designed.

Since Parla was home from Canada
 I wanted  a family picture.

Mummsy just could not get enough of this little gal.

Food over the fire is always the best.
