New Quilt Pattern and Life

Terry and I took a trip to the New England states.  This is at Bar Harbor, it was a beautiful and calm evening by the sea. 

This was the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse in Maine.

In Acadia National Park we took

 a hike one morning around the lake.

It was interesting and pretty to see the leaves in all there beauty.

At the end of our trip we stopped at our daughter's home in Pennsylvania for a few days.  I gave a quilt lecture and trunk show at the Buffalo Mennonite church.

Adeline sure enjoyed the water color painting.  

Back home again.  

One day a month I get together with quilting friends and we chat, quilt and have a great time together.

We each work on our own project.

Here is Jane. I will let the picture speak for itself.  I like the way she matches the quilt in the background.

I just finished designing and making this Modern Star quilt.

Another year of making apple butter up at Terry's home.

Our 10th grandchild Marcy was born the 
day after apple butter boiling. 

She is welcomed by two other sisters. This is Adeline and Marcy.

A Full Life

 There are three wood cravings donated by
 my Uncle Daniel Heatwole.

We took our daughter Autumn and her family to Canada to see our daughter Parla and her family.

Terry and Laban helped Dave build a garage 

while us girls caught up on life.

The children playing barber shop.

 We brought Brighton and Asher home to Virginia with us.

A lesson at Church Retreat about snake saftey.

Asher found a ring neck snake.  They played with

 him for a day then turned him loose.

They each made a little money and got to go shopping.

It was fun to see their creativity in designing 

and making these masks.

I made crawfish/butterfly nets for the children.

A day down by the river.

They each made an art quilt that will be featured

 in my new quilt book.

Feeding chickens with Aunt Brenda.

 At the end of the 3 weeks we had a family campout in our backyard.  We went swimming at Uncle Jeff's pool one day.

Had supper down along the river.

Or we just hung out in the house.

Ordinary Days of a Quilter.

Even though I am a quilter there are more important things in life, like the grandchildren.  This day we got baby turkeys and I had these little ones for the day.

 I took their boots off.  This was helpful because they didn't want to step in the wooden shavings, therefore they stayed put.

My mother is visiting with my grandchild Deacon.  This helps keep the generations connected.

 

A fun evening spent at a Barn party with some bluegrass music, food, and fellowship.

One day I went to Lancaster, PA  and spent the day quilt shopping with friends. Another day I volunteered at the Mennonite Central Committee Quilt Room. 

Some of us sewed while some cut fabric.....

....and others quilted.

Theses comforters were squished and compacted for shipping to send to other countries in need.

Comforters ready to ship.  I find it interesting in my quilt travels that the tied quilts are only called comforters in the Mennonite circles.

There was a group of Amish ladies quilting in the other room.

My trip teaching quilting in Denver CO was a quick one. 

This is the sight that welcomed me as I flew into the

 Shenandoah Valley.  Home sweet home.
