Buther Day, Thanksgiving and Quilts

 AS A QUILTER
I am working on a new quilt.  The fabrics are Jinny Beyer's collections from RJR Fabrics.

I made many triangle units from all the different colors.

I placed these units in rows and sewed them into strips.  Now I am ready to sew the strips togehter.

I pieced and appliqued this quilt for
Patchwork Plus for a floor model.

 Quilting circles.

This is my Desert Rose class  at Patchwork Plus. It is always fun to see the different color combinations students pick.

These are fabric bowls I made by wrapping clothesline cord with strips of  fabric.  I sewed the cords together by using a zigzag and
shaped the bowl as I sewed. Here is a tutorial at Clothesline fabric bowl tutorial.

 LIFE IN GENERAL
The ladies on Terry's side of the family all go Christmas shopping together every year.  We always go out to eat when we are done shopping, which is usually around 2:00am.  This year we finished at midnight, which is later than usual
. It always impresses me how spunky Mom is on this excursion.

Sandra enjoying a warm cup of hot chocolate.

I love setting around the fire with my family and drinking coffee.  Sometimes we treat ourselves to chocolate.

This year my birthday was on Thanksgiving which was great because my family spent the day at home.  Another plus was Rebecca made most of the meal, I was just her gofer. She did the turkey and the works.  Parla we missed your family.

 Butcher Day at Uncle Joes.

Dad stirring the pudding meat.  It is a big day but so nice to go to the freezer and pull out some meat or grab some canned sausage or cubed pork off the canning shelves.

Autumn and I had a party for the Patchwork Plus ladies.

Autumn carved this swan by watching a tutorial on Pinterest. Here is the link http://www.pinterest.com/pin/274156696040101640/

I thought she did a pretty good job and she said it was pretty easy.

Mother came to our house this week and worked on her "Grandmothers Flower Garden" quilt while the girls and I worked in the kitchen making treats.  We pulled the rocking chair out in the kitchen so she would be comfortable.

Good Ole Apple Butter

Apple Butter day is more than making apple butter, it is a social time of getting together with family.  This event reconnects the cousins as they sip hot cider, play games and visit.

Dad keeps the fire a burning.

Uncle Joe filling the jars of apple butter.

23 Gallons of apple butter ready to eat with townhouse crackers and peanut butter.  Yummy.  Dads shed makes a wonderful place for this large gathering.  If it rains or snows we are still in the dry.

Quilt Life
Just finished quilting all the double lines around the stars.

Now I am starting to quilt the blocks.

November 12 is my day for the blog tour for Quiltmaker's magazine 100 Blocks Volumn 8.  Be sure to check back to have a chance to win the this magazine and one of my books or patterns.

New Grandchild

I am a Grandma again.

Last week I flew to Canada to be with my daughter Parla and her family.  I made this quilt for Asher while I was there.

When Asher's sister Brighton was born I made her this quilt.  While I was in Canada this time I operated on the giraffe.

I gave him new eyes and a new nose.

Now the giraffe  looks much better.

We had a "Come meet the new baby party" on Sunday.

Brighton always likes to be in on all the action.

And she loves to be read to by Dave her daddy.

While I was in Canada Dave started framing their house and by the end of the week the tar paper was on the roof and the windows were in.
Thanks Dave and Parla for a wonderful time in Canada.  I just loved being with your precious family.

New Star Quilt

 QUILTINGAL AS A QUILTER
A new quilt is in  the making. Step back from your computer and look at this quilt from a distance.

Notice that this block is the same block as ...

this quilt.

QUILTINGAL'S LIFE
Ray and Rose Mary Martin donated a "chuck wagon supper" for a fund raiser last Christmas.  Terry (hubby) purchased two tickets and last week we went to our chuck wagon supper. Let me give you the setting for the evening, 5 covered wagons circled our eating area,

steaks grilling over an open fire, a chuck wagon with the food supplies (in background),
Rose Mary and Ray grilling steaks.
eating out side with tin plates, top notch food and to add to all that great fellowship.  The atmosphere was just amazing.  Then after supper we sat around the camp fire and listened to embarrassing moment, hunting experiences and skid loader rides.  We laughed so hard.

C&T Publishing is giving away my book. Go to their blog and try to win my book "Diamond Chain Quilts". You have till Oct. 10th to try your chances of winning the book.
