Help please Barbara I am having some type of an issue making the triangle star from your newest book.. my bottoms are not coming out square. any ideas what I might be doing wrong

I have a twirling swirling star made but can't figure out how to add the background fabrics. I can lay it out on the table and it looks ok but when I try and sew the triangle to the #1 it doesn't make sense. I don't know what I'm missing.
