Shenadaoh Valley Produce Auction and Quilt Class

Mother and I went to the Shenandoah Valley Produce Auction.

Young guys enjoyed their jobs of unloading crates and taking the produce to the bidders' trucks.

Grilling and visiting.

Because it was customer appreciation day, lunch was on a donation basis.
 I love soft serve ice-cream.
I treated myself to a cone!

Mother and Ann Rohrer have been good friends                        since they were teenagers.

Here is Glenn and Ann with Father and Mother when they were young.  I just love this picture.  Their family and our family were frequently back and forth when I was growing up.

Pies of many kinds to pick from.

The old order Mennonites are many of the produce growers.

The young and old alike come on bikes.

Tractors with produce ready to go through the drive through auction.

Tractor loads of pumpkins were auctioned off.
Mother and I had such a fun morning eating and visiting with many friends and relatives.

What a blessed time I had with my friend Candy.  This weekend I went to Salem, VA to teach a class.

Candy thanks for a wonderful time.  Your children are so well mannered and so sweet.

Leigh Ann was in my quilt class "Spinning Pinwheels" last year.  She brought the finished quilt to show me.  Such a creative way to display the "flowers" in the vase.

Here are the 12 ladies who took my class "Chinese Checkers".  They were a hoot and a barrel of fun.

Winner of the "Simple Christmas Star Tutorial is Pauline K. She will receiving the following in the mail:
And Creative Grids 60 degree ruler.

  1. Thank you Barbara, I am really looking forward to making some more quilts from your patterns.
I sure wish we had a produce market near me. I use to shop the markets when I lived in other parts of Texas, did a lot of canning. I sure miss them. Great pictures, thanks for sharing and thanks for the many books and patterns.

  2. Barbara, we all enjoyed your class so much! Sheila, who was sitting with me, asked me to tell you that she just loved the class! You were so relaxed, made us feel so comfortable, made all those explanations very clear. It was an enjoyable day that went way too fast! We are all ready for another one!

  3. I love this post!! I remember going to an Amish market in Maryland when I was a little girl -- they sold a peach bread that was simply AMAZING! Thank you for sharing your talent (and your weekend) with us -- and giving me my own private tutorial on machine quilting :) I hope your next post will be full of pictures of that sweet little Brighton -- she'll be there soon!!
