Trip Out West

Terry and I flew out West for a trip.  When we landed in LasVegas we rented this little bright yellow Spark for our travels. It was very small but served us well.

Here are some of the places we went. 

 Antelope Canyon. So unique and different than anything I have ever saw.

 Zion National Park. 

 We hiked The Narrows for an hour.

 If I look a little frightened it is because

 I really don't want to fall.

 The Grand Canyon was the purpose of our trip.  Terry and a friend hiked the canyon from rim to rim in one day. Ann, my good friend and I had a leisure breakfast then drove around to the south side of the canyon to pick up our husbands. We hiked down in the canyon to meet them.

 This was in a mall in LasVegas.  There were hundreds of old sewing machines in this store's window front.  SO COOL. So sad, the store sold clothing, not fabric. :(

BACK HOME AGAIN.

 It was so much fun spending a morning with grandchild Rowen.

As a Quilter

 A new and modern quilt that I made with my one triangle block. This block is featured in my book Amazingly Simple Triangle Stars.

A Student's "Blazing Star" project completed.

 Another student's "Twirling Swirling Dance" finished.

Quilt Blocks

School has started in the Old Order Mennonite School, so I am back to driving school van.  These children are so sweet.

I am starting to paint another series of barn quilt blocks.

Here are 4 of the eight quilt blocks.

Terry and I went to PA to see the newly weds, Autumn and Laban.

Here Autumn is in her and Laban's new home.  She made us 

some delicious meals while we were there.

 

Here my family is starting a 9 mile hike to Old Rag, 

which is on the Skyline Drive.

There is some serious rock climbing on this trail.

 It took us 5 hours.

I had the privilege to teach at the John C. Campbell Folk 

School the last week in August. 

 The last day all the students showed the art they had learned for the week.  The ladies above made the quilts at the bottom of the stage and the men pictured below shared their musical talent.

A field trip to a local quilters home.

 My sister June went with me and took the wood carving class.  For a first time carving I think she did a fantastic job.

 An evening out in the town of Brasstown, NC.

Friday and Saturday of this week I am in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania teaching classes at the Pennsylvania Fiber Arts Show.

The Quilt Show

 I have some exciting news to share with you all.   The Quilt Show came to my home and spent the morning recording. 

This is my view of them.

It will be around a year before the interview will be shown on The Quilt Show.

Later on I demoed a 5 minute clip of template cutting and sewing. The whole process took about 4 1/2 hours but the final segment will be 12-14 minutes.
